Unibloc Pump, A Leading Provider of Sanitary Flow Control Solutions, Acquired by May River Capital

KENNESAW, Ga., Jan. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Unibloc Pump, a 36-year leader in the manufacture of positive displacement pumps, strainers, valves, bubble traps and other solutions for sanitary flow control applications, today announced it has been acquired by May River Capital, a Midwest-based private equity firm focused on helping high-caliber industrial businesses grow and prosper.

Founded in 1984 by Harry Soderstrom, Unibloc Pump has built a strong reputation for innovation within critical sanitary process manufacturing applications, including the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, bakery and confection, meat and poultry, brewery, and transportation industries. Unibloc Pump is nationally renowned for providing precision-engineered products and solutions with uncompromising commitment to customer service. Through the leadership of Harry Soderstrom, Unibloc Pump has witnessed significant growth over the years at both its headquarters in the metro-Atlanta area as well as its second facility located in Beckum, Germany.

“Unibloc Pump is launching a new and exciting chapter with May River Capital,” said Soderstrom. “May River’s approach to building business through collaboration is exactly what I was seeking as I looked ahead to the opportunities awaiting our company. We are pleased we’ve found a partner who values the engineering, skills, craftsmanship and most importantly, the culture we’ve nurtured here. This partnership will enable us to accelerate our growth initiatives and better serve our customers’ needs,” Soderstrom said.

Soderstrom will continue with Unibloc Pump as Chief Growth Officer, where he will utilize his expertise in driving growth for the company through finding new markets, customers, products, and business partners.

Joining the leadership team with Soderstrom will be Chris Stevens, Chief Executive Officer, who will provide commercial leadership with strengths in business-to-business marketing, channel management, and sales.

“Harry’s years of industry expertise and leadership paired with Unibloc’s talented and hard-working employees have made the company the great success it is today,” Stevens said. “We are committed to building upon Harry’s rich legacy and investing in the resources to support the company’s continued growth,” added Stevens.

The timing of the news follows Unibloc Pump’s expansion in mid-December 2020. The company recently moved its U.S. operations into a state-of-the-art facility located in Kennesaw, Georgia, which is three times larger than its prior facility located in Marietta, Georgia. The new 41,000 square-foot facility supports Soderstrom’s and Stevens’ aligned vision for growth through ongoing investment in employees and the company.

“We have more than tripled our plant footprint to dramatically increase capacity to better serve our customers and expand to new markets,” said Soderstrom. “The new facility will also help Unibloc Pump maintain its competitive edge in the industry by attracting top talent in the region,” he added.

Also serving in new leadership roles are Patrick Painter, Chief Financial Officer, and Brian Comiskey, Chief Operating and Technical Officer.

Paul Hastings LLP served as legal counsel to May River Capital, while Jones Day served as legal counsel to Unibloc Pump and its shareholders.

Unibloc Pump Relocates Headquarters to Kennesaw, GA

New facility offers three times more space to serve customer needs, including an innovative research and development lab, state-of-the art service center, exhibition room and more

ATLANTA – December 2020 – Unibloc Pump, a US-based leading manufacturer of sanitary positive displacement pumps and products, today announced the relocation of its headquarters to Kennesaw, Ga. This facility is three times larger than the previous building in Marietta, offering increased production capacity to meet customer needs and accommodating the company’s advanced manufacturing technologies.

“With the move to Kennesaw, Unibloc is well-positioned for future growth,” said Eric Soderstrom, Sales Engineer at Unibloc Pump. “This facility gives us the space needed to increase and improve our manufacturing capabilities and provide our customers with the fast, reliable service they expect.”

Increased space for rapid production, service and delivery

Located at 1650 Airport Road, Suite 110, the facility houses several production and display areas, as well as technological advancements that will greatly enhance productivity and efficiency. This includes a dedicated Research & Development and quality control lab; a pharmaceutical-only, sterile product assembly room; and a larger warehouse to stock more pumps and accessories, such as strainers, valves and bubble traps. The state-of-the-art service center will provide consistent, reliable product support for customers, including those in need of immediate solutions.

A total of eight cranes, six of which are high-capacity cranes with 360-degree swing capabilities, have been installed to provide full coverage over the entire production area. Larger workstations also have been implemented to cater to specific product sizes and higher quantities.

The increase in work space and new technologies will allow Unibloc to offer more ready-to-ship product inventory. The most popular pumps, as well as products for high-risk applications, will be kept in stock for quick delivery. The Kennesaw location also includes an exhibition room for customers to view fully-assembled products and create their ideal solution, a training room for both employees and customers to receive hands-on product training and demonstrations, and additional testing space for more opportunities for customer-specific testing. Engineers now will be able to test outside products for customer-specific applications.

In addition to manufacturing, all departments will operate out of the Kennesaw headquarters, including executive management, sales and marketing, shipping, operations, engineering, product management, accounting, and administration. Employment opportunities for inside and outside sales representatives are available, and Unibloc will be adding opportunities in the engineering and production departments later this year.

“Our new facility will create an economic opportunity for the Kennesaw area, while also being conducive to long-term growth for our employee base and acquiring new talent,” said Soderstrom. “This is our next step to becoming one of the biggest and best pump companies in the U.S.”
